The Lord Fairfax Soil & Water Conservation District (LFSWCD), headquartered in Strasburg, VA, seeks a full-time Education & Program Support Specialist. Qualifications include a degree in natural resources or agriculture, and knowledge or experience in communications. Alternative degrees in education or communications with strong knowledge and experience in agriculture or natural resources will be considered. Responsibilities include conducting awareness and informational activities, such as workshops, articles, promoting conservation awareness among individuals, both adults and youth, local governments, and conservation and civic groups. The incumbent will also maintain the LFSWCD website and maintain working relationships with local news media. Other duties will include field work related to agricultural and urban Best Management Practice programs. Activities will be conducted in Clarke, Frederick, Shenandoah, and Warren Counties and Winchester City. Applicants must have knowledge of Microsoft programs, knowledge of GIS and Adobe programs preferred, be a self-starter and be willing to work in a team environment. Applicants must have excellent communications and organizational skills. Experience writing and managing grants is preferred. Salary will be based on successful applicant’s education and experience. Position includes a full benefits package. Valid Virginia driver’s license and background check will be required. Work will require occasional use of employee’s own vehicle, with mileage reimbursed at State rate. A job description is available upon request.
