Lord Fairfax
Soil & Water Conservation District
The Lord Fairfax Soil & Water Conservation District was organized under the authority of the Soil Conservation District Law as passed by the Virginia General Assembly of 1938. In 1941, the District was formed with only Frederick County. In 1944, Clarke and Warren Counties joined the District; Shenandoah County became a part of the District in 1945. In 1973, the City of Winchester joined to complete the present District.

From the South: Take Interstate-81 North to Exit 296. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto Route 55 east. Continue 2 miles, turn right on US Route 11 South. Go through 1st traffic light, turn left at stop sign onto East Queen Street. Continue 4/10 mile to Queen Street Square, at intersection of Aileen St and East Queen St. The District Office is 722-B.
From the North: Take Interstate-81 South to Exit 298. At the end of the exit ramp, turn left onto US Route 11 South. Continue into Strasburg (through traffic light), straight through traffic light in downtown. Turn left at stop sign onto East Queen Street. Continue 4/10 mile to Queen Street Square, at intersection of Aileen St and East Queen St. The District Office is 722-B.
