The Strasburg Community Garden, since it’s beginning in 2017, has been a place growing and sharing knowledge. Community plot holders are not only growing food for their own tables but also for donation to local food pantries. In addition, the garden has been a host to many educational workshops, fostering community conversation and learning.
We hope that this annual festival will not only celebrate the successes within the Strasburg Community Garden this year, but also feature other local harvests, providing further access and information to our community. The 2018 Harvest Festival will be August 18th, from 9am-2pm at the Strasburg Town Park.
There will be workshops in the garden every hour starting at 9:30am. Come learn from our partner organization, Sustainability Matters, on the following topics; seed saving, cool season crops, and companion planting. There will also be a food demonstration provided by a Master Food Volunteer!
There will be a kid’s corner full of games and activities, as well as Cornhole boards and picnic tables for families to enjoy. The Strasburg Farmers’ Market will be on-site, as well as other food and artisanal craft vendors. Shaffer’s BBQ food truck, The BBQ Palace, will be selling lunch starting at 11am. We will also have a “Discovery Pavilion”, where local organizations will set up with information, displays and giveaways.
We hope you are able to join us for a fun, family day of learning and celebration!
